In IPL 2022, Punjab Kings defeated Royal Challengers
Bengaluru by five wickets to chase down a mammoth 208-run mark. It was the Kings' second-highest
run chase in IPL history. Shikhar Dhawan and Bhanuka Rajapaksa, who each scored 43, were key in
their success. While Odean Smith and Shahrukh Khan delivered the ideal rebuttal to achieve the
victory.
Mayank Agarwal, the captain of Punjab Kings, won the toss and selected to bowl against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Both teams will be looking to get off to a strong start under the leadership of new captains. Punjab Kings will be led by Mayank Agarwal, while RCB has named IPL experienced Faf du Plessis as their skipper.
All attention will be on Virat Kohli, who will play his debut match for the Royal Challengers Bangalore without the captaincy after 9 years. Both clubs spent a lot of money in the IPL 2022 super auction to strengthen their rosters. In their first encounter, Punjab will be without Kagiso Rabada, while RCB will be without star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell. They are also missing pacers Josh Hazlewood and Jason Behrendorff.
Maxwell is abroad for his wedding, while Hazlewood is with the Test team in Pakistan and will miss at least three games, as will pacer Behrendorff.
However, RCB still has some solid choices in the form of Sherfane Rutherford, Finn Allen, and others. The spotlight will be on Sri Lankan all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga and Dinesh Karthik, who is making his second appearance for the side.
The Kings, on the other hand, will be without Jonny Bairstow, who is in the West Indies with the England Test team for their first match. They will also be without Kagiso Rabada, who has just ended his ODI series with Bangladesh for South Africa.
In the absence of Kagiso Rabada, their bowling attack appears to be fairly slender, and they will be hoping that their back-up players can deliver against a formidable RCB batting squad.
There will also be a lot of eyes on Shahrukh Khan, who was repurchased in the auction for a record Rs 9 crore for his outstanding domestic cricket season across formats.
