Chelsea is expected to make an announcement this week
regarding the signing of goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli. Bettinelli is a free agent
following his departure from Fulham in the summer.
Chelsea has given Bettinelli a contract, and the 29-year-old will undergo a physical before becoming the Blues' third-choice goalkeeper.
Arsenal and Aston Villa were also interested in signing Bettinelli, but the goalkeeper chose Chelsea instead.
During his 11 years at Fulham, Bettinelli has made 120 appearances in all competitions, recording 31 clean sheets.
Chelsea let Willy Caballero depart at the end of last season and were looking for a backup goalkeeper. They were linked with Wayne Hennessey, but Burnley signed him before the Blues could complete the transfer.
Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is yet to finalise his team for the coming season. Before deciding on the best lineup for the 2021-22 season, the German wants to watch all of the players at his disposal.
This summer, Chelsea have been connected with Borussia Dortmund attacker Erling Haaland and West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice, while a few senior players are anticipated to leave.
